I have a long-term hatred for anything even remotely related to lodwick or vimeo. But, my friend Lucas has released a lovely muxtape of his latest creations.

If you don’t know, or don’t subscribe to my crazy all things tyler RSS feed, I’m consistently sending out an aggregated stream of everything I do/ share on the internet. Just like friendfeed except not so super-social 2.0.

But this one was worth its own post.

Funny, even though I have two close friends who are epileptics.

Here’s my sense of humor: my friend Andrew had a seizure while running and slammed face-first into the ground, mangling his face pretty badly. The next day, he was in bed resting and we brought him dinner. I got him what he ordered, but also a side of Caesar Salad.

Get it? Seizure, Caesar?

Friends (Academy)

Good friends from Vermont are now living in Brooklyn and have reformed as Friends Academy. [obligatory myspace link] All of them are astounding writers, so I look forward to interesting things from their blog. They’re also pretty hard at work recording in their church.

Check out their track “Rejoiner” – atmospheric and pretty, but they can rock pretty hard too.

Fun-employment, Step 1

I had an amazing time at the 2Checkout Holiday party. A little too much of an amazing time. I’ve been feeling pangs of guilt all this past week after deciding to leave after my contract ended instead of take the great position they offered me. I haven’t entirely figured out my rationale yet. There were times there that I was unhappy with the work, but they were an amazing group of people to work with. And I guess I had hoped to be doing more front-end work, and they’re definitely in a transitional stage, ramping up their Java core environment (a task I am both ill-suited and not entirely interested in helping out on) Anyway, I didn’t burn any bridges, and I would seriously consider returning somewhere down the line.

I mentioned this earlier, but my friend Carl, now of Portland, Oregon inspired me with the term “fun-employment.” Portland, I’m paraphrasing a quote from some article, is the place where “the idea of success is working at a coffee shop so you can play in your Ukrainian folk band.” Anyway, they know how to live life.

So I’m going to make the most out of time my time off, even if I don’t have a lot of money to do it with…

I’m about to get on a plane to New York. I’ll be on Long Island today, then probably come into Brooklyn tomorrow and leaving Wednesday evening.

So for my friends out there reading this, give me a call on my cell. (If you don’t have it, it’s on my facebook page) Or for any non-friends, I’m open to hanging out too…

I had written a long-winded, heartfelt post about how much I enjoyed working at 2Checkout [you can see some of my handy-work at http://www.megashopolis.com/], which is completely true. But for now, I’ve just decided to move on and take some time off, rather than come on as a full-time employee. They are an amazing group of people to work with, and I highly recommend their service. But as for me, I’m heading to New York on Monday, then England for 10 days, back to NY by New Years and off to Vermont for a couple of weeks in January…

Stealing a line from my good friend Carl, I’m now FUN-EMPLOYED!!

I’ll figure out what I want to do next when I return to Columbus, but in the meantime I’ve got some good ideas brewing….
