Wasting my time… with you

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

My good friend Ali, who I am legally bound to tell you, is a Watson Fellow has been tracking her trek around the world studying tatooed women.

She is, as usual, much more insightful than I could hope to be . She has some great points that spending more time on the internet causes you to lose focus or something…

Anyway, I think I’m headed in the direction of a career change, I can’t do this shit for the rest of my life.

A recent NYTimes article describes some further sad trends recently in the US.

That might help explain a shift in what college freshmen described as their primary personal objectives. In 1970, 79 percent said their goal was developing a meaningful philosophy of life. By 2005, 75 percent said their primary objective was to be financially very well off.

I guess that’s more proof that things were better before I was born.

Moral Relativism

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

The Ruth Webb Talent Agency’s scandal division, which got work for many down on their luck tabloid superstars had this to say about their client, Tonya Harding.

Ms. Harding was offered a Woody Allen movie but turned it down, saying she abhorred the director’s morals.

The Onion talking about Will Oldham doing comedy

…Zach Galifianakis, who pretty much knocked it out of the park, even though he looked half dead and stoned. He kept looking at a notebook for his jokes, then remarked, I don’t have any jokes written in here. It just says, “Be yourself. Have fun with it.”

RIP Van Smith

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Van Smith designer for Divine. In related news, I’ve been working on a Rails project for a pretty high profile client that I cannot at this time really disclose. Also saw Vieques exploiting my employee discount for the next week. Happy Hannukah, be back in a week with hot pictures.

barter/free: two witty and cunning entrepeneurs…

Monday, December 11th, 2006

the new york times takes a look at the internet’s biggest public service, the now-ubiquitous craigslist. google has tried it, and so has microsoft, but ultimately these are for-profit endeavors that people do not perceive as providing a service.

i’ve bought a car on craigslist, a minidisc recorder, a futon, made money as a man with a van and met cool people all along the way. one could say that what i owe craig is invaluable, considering all of the great stories i’ve gotten along the way (and a copy of interpol’s antics (thanks, jude!).

ok, just some food for thought…

3 Days, 1 Outfit, Zero Internet

Monday, December 11th, 2006

I was in Somerville, Mass this weekend, and did quite a lot.

  • Stayed with my lovely girlfriend.
  • Toured the Cambridge/ Sommerville Line and played Guitar Hero with my business partner.
  • Got my socks rocked off by some badass girls
  • Walked around Walden Pond, and the lesser known Walden Pond 2: The Pond-ness Unknown.
  • Got to watch my friend Florion engage everyone in conversation
  • Ate great Venezuelan [highly recommend the Torta Fluida] and Indian food.
  • Enjoyed seeing my wish-we-became-better-friend(s) Buck
  • Went to a prom for orthodox jews… no explanation available.

More later…

I’m working from home today (and sitting in Ari’s Dining Room)

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Its funny, I think its easier for me to get up early when I don’t have to go to work, then when I do.

Kinda makes me want to become a freelancer fulltime.

In related news, I’ve been all confused lately about a lot of things. It’s funny how idealistic perfectionism can result in depression.

I’m looking for a Ruby on Rails Mentor.

Comment with your e-mail address if interested… I pay well.
